ALPHA PAL6035
If a picture is worth a thousand words, this is a damn
friggin' novel. My current favorite cooler is the Alpha PAL6035. It sports
a copper inlay underneath to help spread the heat. The combination of
Aluminum and Copper here is the key to it's performance. Copper takes in
heat faster but takes longer to let go of it. Aluminum takes in heat
slower but lets it go faster. Combine them both and you have near perfect
heat exchange. Click here
for the full rundown.
The clip design isn't that good though. It's a little too soft for my
liking. But then, if you look at the way the pins on the heatsink are
arranged, I don't think you could have done anything else. The Alpha
PAL6035 will also sit flush with the current FC-PGA processors with no
modifications needed. Some people say I need to get copper shims when
using it with an FC-PGA, but I haven't run into any problems with it so
far.
Cost (ESP): Php 1,800.00
Here's how it performed in our tests:
Idle, Ambient at 30.6C
Full Load, Ambient 30.6C
Those are the best numbers in this roundup. That means
the Alpha wins this time. The Alpha PAL6035 comes with a 26CFM, 4200RPM,
Y. S. Tech Fan but you'll have to assemble it yourself along with the
rest of the unit. That's part of the fun I think. :-)
